If you've followed this blog or my social media for a while, you probably know that I'm married to a football coach (that's why I refer to the hubs as Coach when I talk about him in public). And as a football wife, I go to a lot of games, and almost all the stadiums we play in have clear bag policies. The first time we ran into a clear bag policy was during playoffs and it caught me off guard – and a last minute trip to the store didn't yield any clear stadium bags. Luckily, I had clear vinyl and managed to sew one up for myself the night before the game. And when all the rest of the stadiums started adopting the clear bag policies, I was ready! So today I'm going to show you how I sewed up that clear tote bag and saved myself from having to carry my belongings in a sandwich bag.

You can even use bias tape in team colors to make your bag a little less basic. I have a post on how easy it is to make your own bias tape here. And if you've never sewn vinyl, there's a post full of my best tips for sewing vinyl here. To make your own bag, you'll need:

1/2 yard of clear vinyl. I used 16 gauge vinyl for the bag pictured in this post.
3 yards of double fold bias tape
2 strips of fabric for the straps cut to 4 in x 28 in
2 strips of fusible interfacing for the straps, cut to 1 in x 28 in

To make a 12 in x 12 in x 6 in tote bag like I did, you'll cut 2 12 in x 12 in squares of vinyl and one piece that is 37 in x 6 in. I highly recommend cutting the long piece of vinyl first, so that you don't cut the 12 in squares in the wrong place and not leave yourself enough to get 37 continuous inches of vinyl. Since vinyl doesn't have a grainline it's easy to do something like that. Then watch the video below to see how to assemble this tote bag.
